A good electrical contractor should be able to give you bathroom ideas for lighting, heating and ventilation.
1. Get a detailed quote for your bathroom renovation
Ask the electrician to come and look at your bathroom before providing a quote for your bathroom electrical requirements. This also gives you the chance to interview them and gauge how they will bring your bathroom ideas to life (or light!). The quote should include a schedule, with defined start and end dates for each phase of the project. As with everything, the cheapest quote is not necessarily the best.
2. Are they qualified to do the work you want?
Always check that your electrician is qualified, licensed and insured. Rather than just including a standard two-plug point near the vanity, a good electrician will be able to give you more specific advice on power-point placement. By asking a few questions about the patterns of use in the bathroom, they can devise a solution that ensures that the space functions at its best.
5. Do they have know current lighting trends?
One of the best bathroom ideas is good lighting - essential for accurately displaying skin tone, but also important in choosing practical, energy efficient lighting. Ask whether your electrician knows how to help you save energy with your bathroom lighting design.
6. Will they do a good job?
It may seem like an obvious question and no one is going to tell you they'll do a bad job, but there are ways to be assured when hiring an electrician for bathroom installation or renovation. Check if they will provide a guarantee of workmanship and ask for references, or to see examples of their work in the field of bathroom electrical installation or maintenance.
